Support Mercy Connections

Your financial support is crucial part of sustaining, strengthening and extending the work of Mercy Connections Education and Transitions Center, Vermont Women's Mentoring Program and Women's Small Business Program. Your donation will help those in transition build the confidence and skills they need to achieve self-sufficiency and personal growth.

Ways to Give

Annual Gifts

Monetary gifts

Monetary gifts at any level, are the lifeblood of Mercy Connections' operations. A gift of cash will improve lives in your community and is 100% tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Make a one-time contribution or arrange to have a donation deducted from your bank account or charged to your credit card each month.
  • To give by Check, Visa or Mastercard, print out our donor form and mail or fax it today.
  • Mercy Connections also accepts Property Transfers of the following assets for its annual giving fund. Mercy Connections recommends that you consult with your financial advisor to determine the appropriate gift for your situation.
Stock, mutual funds or other securities

In most cases a donor may benefit from transferring stocks grown in value (for at least one year) rather than giving cash. In addition to making a meaningful donation, you avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation and receive a tax deduction up to the asset's fair market value. In other words, a donation of stock rather than cash would benefit Mercy Connections at the same level, but it might save you a little (or a lot!) money.

Life insurance

Oftentimes, the original intent of an insurance policy has expired; a child has grown-up, the mortgage has been paid, or your retirement picture is secure. Existing policies can be given to charity and the owner may deduct from taxes the current or net value of the policy. We advise you to check with your insurance agent to discuss this option.

In-kind gifts

This type of gift can be as valuable to Mercy Connections as cash, because it may help to defray operational costs. Items such as computers and peripherals, office equipment, school supplies, or services associated with special events such as catering and decoration are welcomed. If you are considering donating an item in-kind, please call Mercy Connections first to determine the tax advantages and usability of your gift.

Planned Gifts

You believe in the work of Mercy Connections and want to ensure the quality and longevity of our programs. We ask you to consider a planned gift that will contribute to your community for generations to come. While a planned gift is often associated with the slightly daunting area of "estate planning" the effort does not need to be unduly expensive or time-consuming. Take a look at the following options:

Bequest by Will or Trust

Including a bequest to Mercy Connections in a will or trust, whether it is a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate, will not affect your current financial situation but will make a lasting connection to our work and your community. Simply contact your attorney to create or amend your estate plan documents.

Beneficiary designation on asset accounts

By naming Mercy Connections as a full or partial beneficiary of your checking account, retirement plan, or insurance policy, you are demonstrating an enduring commitment for our programs. To do this, simply obtain a Change of Beneficiary Form from the issuer of your current account or policy. Or, the next time you open a new account, consider including Mercy Connections as a beneficiary--even a 5% gift could be significant!
