Getting Serious
April 8 th - 29th
four 2 hour classes on Thursday nights
This four week workshop is designed to help you explore business ownership as your possible next career step. You will discover if business ownership is right for you, examine and expand your business idea(s), clarify your entrepreneurial and business related skills, and create an action plan for next steps.
Topics covered in this program are:
- What are my marketable skills and how could I use them in the business world?
- What business ideas emerge from my exploration of skills and interests?
- What opportunities exist in the community to implement my ideas?
- What specific concrete businesses (3-5) could be generated from these ideas?
- What is my ideal business?
- Does the activity have the potential to help me meet my personal and career goals and generate the income I need?
- How soon can I take action to start this business and what level of risk am I willing to accept?
- How much capital will it require to start this business and what ability do I have to access the capital I need?
- What business idea provides the closest match between what I want and what I can realistically do?
- What are the qualities that I have and need in order to be a successful business owner?
- What are my most significant internal and external barriers to successfully starting a business and are there strategies I could use to influence these barriers?
- Does starting a business at this time still make sense to me?
- What are my next steps? Action planning!
This program is very hands-on and interactive. It is guided by a seasoned instructor and occurs within a community of others who are exploring the same questions.
Our Start Up program is often the next step for people in order to take their business from an idea to an implementable business plan and learn the business skills necessary to be a successful business owner. Start Up is offered twice a year in fall and early spring. Our next “Getting Serious” course begins April 8 th, 2010
